Adult Football
At the Trust we don’t just offer football courses for children, but provide opportunities for local teams and business to join our adult football leagues. We know that it’s not just children who need to take part in regular exercise but we also know it’s difficult to find the time. We took this on board at the Trust and have worked to explore ways we can offer football and sport opportunities for adults.
Lunchtime business league
The Trust offer employees of local businesses the chance to get active during their lunch hour by playing football at Portman Road.
The idea behind came from a local business tournament we ran in aid of Comic Relief, two six-aside adult football leagues have been set up for local employees to have a kick-about at Portman Road in their break.
However the league offers much more then something to do in a lunch hour – it’s a chance to get active and build stronger business networks to support the town’s economic growth.
Getting active and taking part in regular exercise is something the Trust works to promote to the youngsters we work with. Encouraging adults to do the same sets a good example for the children and young people living in the area and we feel is a positive step towards Suffolk’s Ambition to become the healthiest county in the country by 2012.
Companies involved include Call Connection, Suffolk County Council, AxA, CSD, Ipswich Borough Council and of course ITFC Charitable Trust.
Adult six-a-side league
With recreational football as popular as ever, the Trust have set up a mid-week six-a-side football league for any team wishing to play regular, competitive football at Portman Road.
Taking place every Thursday evening between 7-9pm, each match lasts 40 minutes with the league spread over the course of 12 weeks. Cost to enter a squad of eight is £25 per week.
